Supply chain management (SCM) is the combination of art and science that we help our customer improve the way to find the raw materials they needs to make a product or service and deliver it to customers. SCM spans all movement and storage of raw materials, work-in-process inventory, and finished goods from point of origin to point of consumption.
We follow a typical model suggested by the Supply Chain Council (SCC):
1. Plan—We will have a strategy for managing all the resources that go toward meeting customer demand and specification for their product or service. We have developed SCM system and database so that it is efficient, costs less and delivers high quality and value to customers.
2. Source—We will choose manufacturers and suppliers to deliver the goods and services we need to meet our customers’ requirements. Our SCM team have a set of pricing, delivery and payment processes with manufacturers and suppliers and create metrics for monitoring and improving the relationships. And then, our SCM team can put together processes for managing the goods and services inventory, including receiving and verifying shipments, transferring them to the manufacturing facilities and authorizing supplier payments.
3. Make—Our SCM team coordinate with manufacturers and suppliers for production, testing, packaging and preparation for delivery. This is the most metric-intensive portion of the supply chain—one where we are able to measure specifications, quality levels, and production schedules.
4. Deliver—This is the part that we refer to as logistics, where our SCM team receive orders from manufacturers and suppliers, storage shipments within our warehouse network, coordinate with carriers to get products to customers and invoice customers to receive payments.
5. Return—Our SCM team have a responsive and flexible network for receiving defective and excess products back from their customers and supporting customers who have problems with delivered products..
